Song of the Day:  “some day we’ll all be free” It’s become part of my routine to come home and sit on the couch right by the window and listen to music as a means of relaxing.  I often wind up on wild youtube missions trying to find rare footage of songs that I love, listening to duets that I never knew existed, or finding someone that I’ve never heard before and also enjoy.
There are those rare days when you get exactly what you want without even having to search for it. Yesterday was one of those days.  This new Ben Allison record is entirely covers, but in the case of Ben Allison a cover doesn’t mean a simple rendition (ex: nothing’s going to change my world on the record “buzz”) 
This song “some day we’ll all be free” is probably my favorite on the record so far (opinions are subject to change).  I sat here by my window, there was a steady breeze coming through the window, a nice glass of bourbon beside me and, of course, this wonderful song playing.  The good thing about this song though is that you needn’t be bathed in a cool breeze, nor need you a single drop of alcohol to enjoy this song in all it’s splendor.  That being said, if you can manage to pull off the breeze and the liquor, I’d recommend it.
